Tom Heaps, Head of the Political Section and Hanar Marouf, a Political Officer from the British Consulate in Erbil,  joined The Breakfast Club  to discuss the Chevening Scholarship—a prestigious UK government scholarship program that supports future leaders and influencers from around the world.

Although the British Consulate in Erbil is involved in a wide range of projects and programs aimed at strengthening UK-Iraq relations, the main focus of the discussion was the Chevening Scholarship—an opportunity that offers fully funded master’s degrees in the UK.

Dr. Hanar and Mr. Tom shared valuable insights and tips for prospective applicants, including how to write a strong application and what the selection panel looks for in candidates. The conversation aimed to encourage more young professionals from the Kurdistan Region and beyond to apply and take advantage of this life-changing opportunity.

Andrew Bizley joined the Breakfast Club to discuss his new position as Consul General in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

He shared his hobbies, including serving, and expressed his appreciation for the mountains in Erbil. He also discussed the Chevening program by the UK Consulate and answered fan questions.

He previously served in Iraq as First Secretary Political-Military and Acting Political Counsellor in Baghdad (2019-2021). In London, he was a senior lawyer covering Europe and Human Rights from 2015, having joined the FCDO after holding various roles in the Department of Energy and Climate Change since 2008. The Consul General, as the senior UK official in a Consulate General, represents the UK government and is responsible for consular, visa, and trade activities in their region.
